Following the success of The Magic Flute and Turandot in 2023, Seoul Metropolitan Opera directed by Park Hye-jin has chosen Verdi's masterpiece La Traviata as the inaugural production of this season. The opera, which was first introduced to the citizens of Seoul in 1948 at Myeongdong Theater, will be revived as "La Traviata, Chun Hee" in 2024 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, which depicts the story of a life wandering amid the sorrow of losing the nation and the joy of love during the 1900s.

In Gyungseong in the early 1900s, Violetta, an independence activist, disguised as a geisha, endeavors to raise money for independence movement by seducing Alfredo, the son of the wealthy Germont. However, she finds herself really falling in love with the innocent young man.

Violetta and her companions also plan to execute Baron Dupol, who has received a knighthood by the Emperor for his pro-Japanese activities. Alfredo, however, mistakenly believes that she has betrayed him and attempts to get close to the Baron...
